| Team leader of group designing online Microsoft Windows NT and 2000 training infrastucture. This involved hardware selection, software selection and design across several disciplines, OS configuration, networking, remote system management, and web site and software design. Extensive design work with Cisco routers and switches to implement complex routing architectures, VLANs and system security. This included VLAN trunking, port aggregation, access control lists, multiple routing protocols and address translation. Extensive work with remote control and remote boot technologies such as PXE. Also included configuring the OS and applications such as MS Exchange to work in a remote environment as an independent lab able to be loaded on schedule in under 10 minutes. |

Also responsible for troubleshooting problems in the online learning systems routers and switches and providing input into new lab designs. Duties involved the daily operation of a multi-site, 1200+ node, 30 server Unix and Windows NT statewide LAN/WAN. Responsible for designing, installing, maintaining and supporting the TCP/IP routed network of leased circuits, frame relay, and FDDI. These responsibilities included network layout and design, interfacing with vendors, installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of Cisco routers and switches. This included memory upgrades, IOS upgrades, installation and removal of interface cards, configuration of Ethernet, FDDI, Fast Ethernet, ISDN, Frame Relay, 56k and T1 interfaces and sub-interfaces. Configured access lists to control traffic and routing updates. Also monitored the router operation for utilization, troubleshooting problems, and possible upgrades. Configuring routing protocols to communicate with external systems using EIGRP, OSPF and RIP. Maintaining efficient utilization of limited TCP/IP address space with network design, subnetting, variable length subnet masks and DHCP servers. This also included maintaining the user database, creating and removing users and groups, all systems security, creating login scripts and profiles, installing and upgrading server and client software and hardware. Installed and maintained a multi-site, multi-domain Novell GroupWise e-mail system. Monitored network performance with HP Openview and other system utilities, hardware and software troubleshooting of network, server and client problems. Other duties included monitoring Internet connection, proxy and internal web servers for utilization levels, maintaining mainframe SNA links via Microsoft SNA server. Acted as primary point of contact for all network issues for both internal and external customers. Supported remote access to field offices via Windows NT RAS, modems and routed network. Wrote security policy and Emergency Readiness Plan. Continually provided strategic input into the present and future needs of the network systems, setup and testing of new products and configurations in both test and production environments. |
